We have airport ticketing area crowd control equipment. Specifically the retractable stanchions used to manage the flow of passenger traffic in the ticketing and passenger check-in area. We work with multiple suppliers and if you have a brand preference, we most likely can meet that requirement.
TICKET AREA CROWD CONTROL STANCHION REGULATIONS
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) provides guidelines for the use of stanchions, or crowd control barriers, in ticketing areas of airports. These guidelines are intended to promote efficient and safe passenger flow while maintaining security.
According to the FAA’s guidelines, stanchions used in ticketing areas should:
- Be placed in a manner that does not obstruct passenger flow or access to emergency equipment.
- Be positioned at least six feet away from the airline ticket counters or check-in kiosks.
- Be designed so that passengers cannot easily climb over them or move them out of position.
- Have visible markings or signs indicating that they are FAA-approved crowd control barriers.
- Be removed promptly once their intended purpose has been served.
In addition, the FAA recommends that airlines and airports have a plan in place for managing queues and crowd control in ticketing areas. This may include the use of additional staff or signage to direct passengers, as well as the use of stanchions to guide passenger flow.
It’s important to note that these guidelines are intended to promote efficient and safe passenger flow, and may vary depending on the specific airport and its governing authority. As such, it’s important to consult the appropriate regulations and guidelines for the airport in question.

Need your company colors and airline logo on the belts? We can do that!
Contact us with the following details so we can better assist you and provide an accurate quote:
- QUANTITY: How many stanchions will you need? Did you make a floor schematic?
- POST AND BASE COLOR CHOICE: Many options are available… Black, polished stainless steel, brushed stainless steel, polished brass, many powder coated colors.
- BELT LENGTH: Most manufacturers offer two to three belt lengths with their retractable stanchions. We recommend using no longer than an 11′ belt. Longer belts tend to lean and sag leading to an unprofessional appearance. Longer belts, however, offers you more flexibility and may require less stanchions for your project. The longer belt option may cost a bit more upfront but may save you money in the long run.
- BELT COLOR CHOICE: Many belt colors choices available though may not be an exact match to your company colors. Provide us with a starting point and we will find your ideal color. Custom screen printed logos and wording is also available.
- STANCHION USE: Are single belt stanchions ok for your application or do they need to be ADA compliant?
- DESTINATION DETAILS: Do you have a fork lift or loading dock available? Will you need lift gate service? Any special instructions?
